    Premium or regular unleaded?

Here's a question for you, what fuel do you use in your jeep and is there any mileage benifits running premium.

I use BP premium/octaine in the pffftmobeel, and I can certainly notice, 2 things.

1 The car performs heaps better.

2 I do get slightly more mileage by using premium.

I have used premium in the XJ, but it hasn't been driven enuff lately to comment on it.

There has been plenty on this before....
but I use premium in my Grand V8 and I do get better mileage.
I still use regular in my TJ, but I know guys who swear by premium in the 4lt as well.

Since I bought the xj I've only used premium, I was just curious as to what fuel other jeepers were using in their jeeps and whether the extra cost at the pump worked out to savings in mileage.

When I had an XJ, had to use premium.....would ping and pop and fart (the car, the car....) on normal unleaded.

Actually found BP Premium better than Optimax in terms of roll on accelleration, response etc. Millage; dunno. drove it like i stole it, with 32" Mongrels etc it got crap economy anyway you sliced it.

Premium gets roughly about 35 k's extra out of a tank with better performance also..

In regards to the gas, I've heard that the fuel tank can be cut down and a gas tank installed underneath-is this correct?
              Cheers, Ben

I'm driving a 96XJ and if i use ordinary unleaded i get a lot of pinging.
I switched to BP Ultimate which is great but now very expensive to buy.
I now use Caltex Vortex 98 and using my safeway voucher is a lot easier on the pocket and engine seems to like it just as good as BP ultimate.
