Aaaaahhhhgggg
well where do i start , the problem with the rad drain cock was a problem i encountered whist trying to find a leak at front of the engine of which i thought was the water pump , anyway during all the swearing and cussing i thought ah ha the drain cock was the problem and not the pump causing the leak $#@%^&%^$ wrong it was in the end the water pump .
Things i learnt * throw away the haynes manual
* the drain cock needs to be pushed in when closing
*The water pump and fan can be taken out withput removeing the fan shroud .
* only need to remove the 1 belt , 2 fan after it is onbolted it slips out from under the shroud ok and 3 idler pully , 4 top rad hose and then the water pump. easy peasy
Problem found with pump was that who ever replaced the pump previously decided that a bit selastic would be ok for gasket , yeah right , w*nker.
* that the yanks make a far more unfriendly car to work on the poms , who ever would have thought that.
* water pumps can cost $316 at the stealer and that was trade , to $109 from Melbourne and any where in between , shop around !!.
Well all good now so time for a beer , Happy jeeping. Al .WG Grand , MGB 1968

Radiators are such a joy, had the same sort of thing with my ZG but a new Jap water pump from Coventry Auto was only $90.
The 2.7 CRD I have now if it has a water pump failure I'll probably have to suck up to the bank manager.
No one could make a harder vehicle to work on than the Poms, Cooper S or Ford Escort 2lt proper bastards to work on.2015 WK2 Laredo(ZG, WG)
Never too old to learn something stupid
