Limp mode and a long list of codes!

    Hi

Me auld 2003 grand Cherokee went into limp mode yesterday, last week the window regulator failed dunno if this has any effect but only the drivers door now locks with fob no other doors will lock. I did remove the door panel. To look at window regulator but replaced door panel and am awaiting delivery of regulator.

I disconnected the battery for a few hours earlier no joy!

    Here’s the list of codes;

    P1130. Fuel rail pressure sensor?
    P700. Generic trans code?
    P340. Cam position sensor?
    P702. Gear selector circuit board?
    P703. Brake light switch?
    P1685. Imobiliser key recognition?

Anyone any idea if these are interlinked? Before I go and replace the gear selector circuit board?

I should mention that the the Jeep used to sometimes start up with engine light on and turning it off and three on offs of the ignition would cure it and the mil would turn off once approx 70 kph was reached!

I've read before that the wiring loom for the drivers door can get pinched and cause issues like this. Pry open the grommet between the door and body and see if you can see any damaged wiring or wires that look kinked or mashed at all

      Hi Grippy

Just checked that all wires seem intact and in good condition.

      Thanks for the suggestion

        Battery perhaps.

Sometimes they can give you all sorts of trouble codes.

Gonna try a new one first thing in the morning.

I did try and boost the old one to see if it made any difference but to no avail.

Some of those are probably old codes. You need to clear them and see which come back.

Tried a new battery no luck, my code reader won’t recognize the computer so can’t clear any codes.

Should I get a new gear selector board?

It's very easy to spend someone else's money but P0702 does point to the PCB. If you are certain your new battery is the correct one and fully charged then I would think it's very likely the PCB at fault. Incidentally disconnecting the battery does nothing on the 2.7 CRD, only works on petrol models. You can get a ELM 327 interface fairly cheaply (make sure it's a genuine one not a Chinese knock off) and download jeepdiag app to your smart phone and you can read and erase these codes. Perhaps do this first and see which codes come back?
