Saturday (South of Wynyard) and a Patrol in our group with HT tyres slipped sideways and was very worried it would keep going down the hill. I was able to trade places with a hilux so I could get behind, and a shorty cruiser was able to turn around and winch from the front. He was anchored to a tree and I to another 4X4 behind me. Apart from this little lapse, the Patrol went everywhere we did - just needed a little more right foot. I think after this, he worried less about the scratches, and there were many.

I think I saw something similar in an issue of Jeep Action.

                Can off the Beach

I am working down in vic for a couple of months and went for a drive along the beautiful south coast - I was looking for the colourful beach huts and came across a stuck Falcon sitting on the beach.........

I have given my winch a work out over the years inc pulling a loaded semi, I had to use 3 snatch blocks and scure my Jeeps towbar to a tree to stop me winching myself to the truck, I am aware just how much pulling power is required to drag a 4dr pootrol on its belly up a steep hill and how much power it takes to unstuck a cruiser in the mud....

I was originally going to drive onto the beach let my tyres down and snatch him off, it seemed like the smart way to do it, then I thought hmmmm I dont really want to be bothered to air up after so I decided to winch him.

I hooked it up at 90degrees to the falcon and fully expected it to be difficult to pull a falcon sideways in the sand.

To my surprise when I pressed the winch in button the falcon just came almost effortlessly sideways through the sand until it could straighten up.

I was surprised because my winch was running so fast it was almost free spool speed - so I have now learnt that pulling heavy 4x4's in the mud is significantly more difficult than pulling a falcon sideways off the beach!
                Cheers Hunty

Geez Hunty, trouble seems to find you.....or do you find it? What was that bloke thinking driving the Falcon onto the beach?

                  Good pics mate.
