Hi All,
I am sure this has been done already but I could not find it on this forum so I just thought that I would share my recent experience in the hope that it might help others who find themselves in a similar boat.
I own a 3.0L diesel Commander which recently went into limp mode on the way home from work. I have obviously heard a lot about the swirl motor problem but knowing that I have installed the Provent filter I did not suspect that this was the problem. Anyway, I took the car into the dealer for diagnosis and one day and $165 later I am staring down the barrel of a $3475 motor repair bill. Not good .
I had heard of the various tunes to delete the swirl motor and improve performance but I regularly tow a 3t boat and have never really had any issues with the available power and with other more important expense I was not too keen to spend the upwards of $1,000 that they cost. With that in mind I started to research alternatives on the internet and stumbled across the resistor mod. There are a number of sites that describe this mod but I found this to be the most useful http://www.jeepforum.com/forum/f67/c...18/index2.html
This resistor mod ended up costing me $0.43 and has, so far, fixed my problems. Needless to say I am one very happy camper .
